Where to Stay in Lapland: The Best Lapland Igloo Hotels
The best part of our Lapland trip was the igloo hotels we stayed in! We’ve travelled to many places around the world. Still, we’ve rarely seen accommodation as special as in Lapland. So, where should you stay in Lapland? Here are the 6 Lapland igloo hotels we think are the best.

1. Apukka Resort
This fantastic igloo resort sits right by a lake, 20 minutes from the centre of Rovaniemi. It has its own sauna and gorgeous igloos. We stayed here for our first two nights, and it was amazing in every way.
- Aurora Cabins: With glass ceilings, these cabins let you watch the Northern Lights from your bed.
- Ice Cabins: Made entirely of ice, these cabins come with warm thermal sleeping bags for a comfortable night.
Apukka Resort also offers lots of winter activities, like snowmobile tours and ice fishing. Of all the Lapland igloo hotels we tried, it’s our favourite.

2. Arctic TreeHouse Hotel
The Arctic TreeHouse Hotel in Rovaniemi has the most beautiful treehouses we’ve ever seen! Or should we call them tree igloos?
All the houses are in the middle of the forest, making it a perfect spot to watch the Northern Lights.
It’s one of the best places to stay in Rovaniemi, great for a romantic getaway or a family holiday.

3. Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort
Near Saariselkä, Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort is world-famous for its glass igloos.
- Glass Igloos: With glass roofs, they’re ideal for watching the Northern Lights. Comfortable beds and heated floors make for a wonderful stay.
- Log Cabins: These traditional Finnish wooden cabins have private saunas and fireplaces. They’re great for Northern Lights watching, too.
It’s ideal for families, since you can book every Lapland activity you’d want through the hotel’s own tours. Among Lapland igloo hotels, it’s probably the most famous.

4. Levin Iglut – Golden Crown
In Levi, Levin Iglut is one of the most fantastic Lapland igloo hotels.
These igloos have panoramic glass ceilings and walls, and they even have a sauna inside. Imagine watching the Northern Lights from a sauna! 🙂

5. Northern Lights Ranch
In Kongäs, Northern Lights Ranch blends modern architecture with nature.
- Sky View Cabins: Glass ceilings and big windows let you watch the sky right from your bed.

6. Arctic SnowHotel & glass igloos
In Sinettä, Arctic SnowHotel & Glass Igloos offers both a hotel made entirely of ice and glass igloos.
- Glass Igloos: Not ready for the ice hotel? Stay in the heated glass igloos instead.
- SnowHotel: Up for a challenge? Sleep in an ice room! You’ll stay warm in thermal sleeping bags and special clothing.
There’s also an ice restaurant, a sauna and a hot tub for an unforgettable stay. It’s the most unusual of all the Lapland igloo hotels on our list.

Which Igloo Should You Choose?
For the full Rovaniemi experience, we’d go for Apukka Resort or the Arctic TreeHouse Hotel. For the most famous glass igloos, choose Kakslauttanen. Want a sauna under the sky? Try Levin Iglut. And if you’d like to sleep on ice, Arctic SnowHotel is the one. Whichever you pick, book early, because Lapland igloo hotels fill up fast in Northern Lights season.
